VERSAILLES Chateau De Versailles Paris, France

by 35000 workers, a hundred hectares of ingenious garden design with a strict symmetry of wide star-shaped garden paths that seem to be without ...

What to design a novel/movie cover?
Versailles, France, 2009, - superb views over the magnificent grounds of the Versailles gardens and chateau gardens - a garden lovers dream come true! The size is sheer magnifique! ( Summer 2009 ).

I need a novel cover made from my novel. I know theres a lot of creative pple with talent out there!! the reason i say movie/novel is because i was hoping that the cover would look similar to a movie cover with all the main characters on it. The novel is called : Beyond the Ripples. its a romance/drama/thriller
anywhooo i appriciate it very much :)

character descriptions:

the main main characters:
Jamison: male ages 18-22 (is 19 in the book). tall lean muscles bright blue eyes, dark messy hair (brown or black idc, w/e looks good and not too long but not short short). very chiseled jawlineand high cheek bones. oliveish complextion but more french colored. he needs a certain victorian look like hes born in 1824 (crucial).
Ariel: female ages 17-20 (is 18 in the book). 5'7''-5'9''. slim but curvy not paris hilton slim but marilyin monroe curvy. long rich chocolate hair. preferably in curls or waves down to her waist. emerald green eyes that stand out (crucial)!! full lips but not angelina jolie. thick lashes. sophisticated style, she was born with money. (preferably if she was in a red dress) not pale skinned but creamy peach, american.

main characters:
anastasia: female ages 26-29 (28 in the book). long wavy red hair, strawberry blonde. brown or green eyes idc, w/e looks good. average build with more hips and hooters cuz she has a kid. pale skin.

Gabriel: (yay finally the bad guy) male ages 24-29 (25 in the book). average build , thin face but good looking. hazel or brown eyes. blonde or dirty blond hair. needs to have that certain villainy that can look either 1824 or 2009... challenge hehe

Henry: male ages 26-33 (30 in the book) (brothers with jamison and married to anastasia if that helps) dark hair like jamison but greyish green eyes (crucial) and a sharp nose. he needs to look youngish but you can tell hes in his 30's or close to it. hes from 1824 as well.

Rosa: (the bad girl yay!!) female ages 17-21(18 in the book). latino background. brown hair, brown eyes. not very pretty but not ugly. smuggish looking nose. slender build, the closest resemblence i had in mind was vanessa hudgens. she is from 1824 but can look 2009 as well.

kool and the background picture theme is a ripple in water or an old victorian house (garden setting by the water) or an old row boat. NOTE i said theme!! so that means anything along those lines so be open minded

here are the relations: jamison and ariel are lovers. anastasia and henry are husband/wife with a kid( they love ea/other a lot). gabriel is the male villain and rosa is the female villain. i hope that helped with arrangments and stuff
your work will be appriciated!!!

Ps: i wont hire professionals to do it because i want to know what my poossible audiences are into. these new ideas would help me figure out what to add to my novel and what is possible. my agent would be thrilled as well. thanks :)

English gardens??? Please help.?
Mais qui a volé l'orange du château, qui?

My fiance and I are using an English garden theme for our wedding and I'm having a little trouble. From the research I've done, there are several different types of English gardens and each has unique characteristics, but the websites I've found only list famous English gardens while not really explaining the quintiscential elements that make up an English style garden. From what I understand there are landscape gardens, formal gardens (which were supposedly modeled after the French and Italian formal gardens), country gardens, and cottage gardens. I could really use some definitive information on this to help us design our theme. If anyone could tell me the difference between the different types of gardens and what flowers/plants make them up I would really appreciate it. We chose this theme because my fiance is English and Scottish and is wearing a kilt for the wedding. We thought an English garden theme would be appropriate also because the reception is in a banquet hall in a park.

When I think of English Garden I picture the cottage garden. But there are many kinds as you say, just like many kinds of American gardens. I think you can pick the kind that appeals to you. You might do better at the library where you could get several picture books on the topic and find what appeals to you most.

Can I get into Michigan State? Chance me!?

Hi everyone I am about to be a senior this fall and I am reallly hoping to go to MSU. i am applying to their fairly new residential college in the arts & humanities. I went to visit it during the spring and I met with one of the admissions directors for it and she really seemed to like me and I liked her. I got a great feeling when I was there, I knew it is the place I am meant to go.

School: Country Day School [very rigorous college prep school and my college counselor said MSU holds spots for country day kids]

GPA: this is just a guess but its probably a 3.3 unweighted ; I received an 84 average GPA for the end of Junior year. It was probably higher the past 2 yrs.

APs: i took AP psych [waiting for results of the test] and I am taking AP stats, AP photography and AP Shakespeare this upcoming year. i also took honors french

SAT: 500M 570CR 610W

ACT: Composite: 26 ; 28 English; 20 Math ; 29 Reading ; 27 Science ; 8 Writing [on 8-12 scale] And I know my math is low but I sent MSU the ACT I took before this and got a 23 in math .

EC: Freshman year: JV soccer, strength & conditioning, yearbook club, french club, choir
Sophomore year: JV soccer, strength & conditioning, yearbook club, french club, art & design
Junior year: V mountain biking, JV tennis, french club, diversity council, photography
senior year: V cross country, JV tennis, french club [treasurer], diversity council [will have a position], AP photography

Community service: 40+ hours ; babysat for my church , worked at a food bank ; took pictures at vacation bible school for a week ; helped out with a garden tour; worked at a dance recital

Internship: I had an internship at a courthouse with a Judge for the whole summer before 11th grade.

Recommendations: I am getting one from my English teacher. English is my passion and I have received high A's on all of my papers from this English teacher. She has been my teacher for 3 years in a row. She writes very good recommendations and quotes sentences from essays the student has written. ; I will also get a recommendation from the Judge I worked for because she got to know me personally and can give a good recommendation based on my characteristics and qualities.

Essay: I already wrote my essay because we had a whole workshop for a month on it in my junior English class. we learned how to write the best we can for college and what colleges are looking for. i received a 96 on it from my teacher so i will be sending that one in.

Classes: I have taken 5 english classes [2 senior year], 5 history classes [2 senior year], 4 sciences, 4 maths, 4 years of french, and i have taken art/photography or speech/health for every year. So i have taken as many if not more of the classes MSU recommends.

Improvement: This year, I really improved in most all of my classes. my hardest classes were AP psych and honors french. I went from a C- in the first semester of honors french to a B+ [86] by the end of the year. And for psych, I went from a C+ to being one point from an A-. I know MSU looks at improvement.

Sorry it's long, but whoever will chance me i will be very grateful! If you don't feel like chancing me, maybe you can tell me what you think of MSU acceptance and how hard/easy it is to get in Thank you!!

Overall i'd say you have a good chance of getting in. Your gpa is below their average and you're act is around their average, however, you seem to have some great extracurriculars and a very rigorous courseload which should put you over the top.

i have a free gap year. anyone has ideas for me to do??

You could volunteer with some organization. They probably pay for living expenses, but you'd have to pay for travel.
I am sure there are plenty, but as you mention gardening one option would be working on organic farms, there is an organizations which helps you finding places in different countries: http://www.wwoof.org/

I've also met people who helped monitoring biodiversity in tropical forest plots, they even got payed some kind of salary.

You can also ask your church if they know projects you could volunteer in.

A short google search gives these worldwide volunteer databases:
http://www.globalvolunteers.org/
http://www.travellersworldwide.com/
http://www.idealist.org/if/idealist/en/H ome/default

Another advantage of volunteering is that as you don't get paid a salary you don't have to worry about work visas which may be hard to get.

    The Roman Landscape [750 BMA - 400MA]

The Romans carried out landscape design on a scale not seen again until recently. They left a strong imprint on the land. The Romans designed large urban open spaces with perforated edges. These public open spaces were designed to keep the masses entertained – a point highlighted in the movie Gladiator. They combined garden and lifestyle ideas from the Greeks, Etruscans, Persians and Egyptians. In comparison to their public environments their residential site developments were typically inward looking.
