What is a good name for a garden design company?

I am starting a company to help people design and refresh their gardens and landscapes.  My services will include planning out their garden, helping them select plants at the nursery, and then helping them keep their yard green and healthy.  I'm thinking of a name with
"-- Scenes" or "-- Scapes" in it, but I'm open to any ideas.  I am near the coast and specialize in plants that do well there. I love the name Gardenscapes but it is already taken.  Thanks much!

Hi:
I am a landscaper and designer. I have had a business for over eight years. When you create the name of your business, think of your own personality and how it can reflect on your clients. You live near the coast and are in a sub - tropical or tropical setting. Coastal Gardening may be a thought as well of Garden Scences By The Sea, Tropical Paradise Through Gardening, Gardening With Tropical Plants, Creating Coastal Gardens, or Coastal Gardenscapes.

These are just a few that come to mind. Take some words that reflect your area and spend some time playing with the different words. Put some good thought about what your clients would like. This is what I did with my off line business as well as my on line business. I will link you to the tropics section of my website. Browse through as you may find something that may help you. Good luck to you and if I can be of any other help, let me know! Have a great day!

I am a garden design company - but my business name has already been trademarked by an embroidery company... ?

I have a garden design company - which i was going to call Green-Bee, but it turns out that it has already been trademarked by an embroidery company! Can anyone tell me if a) i can still use this name or b) any alternatives.

Please help!!

If you want to keep the name you've already chosen, why not just change the spelling of it? [Green-Bea or Grene-Bea]

Though I don't see why you can't use the same name for a completely different business. Check with the local Chambers of Commerce.

Can anyone recommend a company in Glasgow who do mono blocking and/or garden design?

I'm looking for a company near Glasgow to do our driveway and I was going to go with mono block. What should I be asking these companies so I don't get ripped off? Also we want to landscape our back garden which has a steep downwards slope. We thought decking straight out over it was the best solution. Any other ideas? We would need to put up an 8ft fence if we go for decking. Do you need planning permission for that? There is only woodland behind us. Can anyone out there recommend a company for either? Many thanks.
Glasgow, Scotland!

Will a diploma from Ashworth College's online program in Landscape Design get me into a job in the field?

I've been thinking seriously for a while now about taking classes, or working toward a degree, in Landscape or Garden Design. I found this one, which suits my budget and current time limitations (just had a baby) but don't want to do it if it'll only get me laughed at when I start looking for work in the field. I'd be happy starting out anywhere from a garden supply store/greenhouse/nursery, or at a landscape design company.

Actually your last statement is what you need to do. Just go get a job at a nursery and go from there. Landscape design is not something you can learn online. Sure the online courses can help but I think it may be a waste of money. If you have a community college near you that would be a much better choice. The art of landscape design cannot be learned in books it must be learned in the field. So get a job first then work with them in the field and the whole time learn about the plants and techniques. Then if you want go to a local community college and take some courses in horticulture or agronomy. Then lastly you may want to read these reports about ashworth. Good luck to you in your future of landscapes.

What name do you like better for a design company?

The brand is going to be based on earth tones and nature:

Mystique Logo's
Dragon's spirit Designs
Needful things
Crimson Dragon
secret garden Designs

Only Secret Garden Designs works with your color scheme and ideas. Also be careful with your punctuation. Mystique Logos does not need an apostrophe, it's a simple plural.

Don't use Needful Things, it has too many other meanings. Crimson Dragon doesn't indicate anything about a design company.

Resource Zen Garden - The Beauty of CSS Design - Virtual Assistant ...

The site provides a basic HTML text document. Then using CSS only, they add the layout & design elements of the site. They invite others to submit their CSS design. There are some gorgeous web designs featured here, & the fact that all the design & layout elements are done in CSS is incredible to me. I've been combing this site for days, enthralled at what you can do with CSS. LOL - I have a link to this site on my VA site under "Website FYIs" on why not to use tables for layout as an example of what can be done if you don't use tables. I also have The Zen of CSS Design book by Dave and Molly from Zen Garden that I purchased a few years ago. I don't suggest this as a "first-timer" book to learn CSS, though. I love the Zen Garden site and all the creative ideas, so that is why I included the link on my site. Very cool.

10 Questions for . . . Andrea Gabor, Business Journalist: Consumer ...

It all goes back to my book The Man Who Discovered Quality (1990). It was the story of W. Edwards Deming, a statistician from Wyoming who ended up teaching the Japanese auto industry about quality management. Since then, quality has been something of an obsession with me. Two years ago I bought a $2,000 lemon of a range. I had so much trouble getting it repaired to my satisfaction—even the repair parts failed. That got me wondering about the once reliable American appliance and whether the American appliance industry was going the way of the American auto industry. There are some remarkable parallels, especially when you think about what U.S. manufacturers could have learned from the auto experience of the 1980s. The Japanese started to beat the U.S. because of their commitment to quality. As with the auto industry, the main competitors to the U.S. appliance industry are largely Asian, and Korean in particular. These manufacturers have an incredibly strong quality ethic, which they learned...
