I am a landscape gardener, and I am looking for some way to take pictures of a clients garden, upload them to my laptop then sit with the client and re-design the pictures with input from the client. Possibly a graphics tablet? photoshop? touch sensitive screen ? so I can draw straight onto the digital images. It would be good if there was a package available that provided different options of pre made objects such as fencing, block paving, turf, decking, shrubs which could be placed onto the photograph to show what the finished garden would look like. I have seen a kitchen designer use something similar where he took a picture of the clients kitchen, then showed her what it would look like with the new kitchen fitted.
Any ideas
Thanks
There are Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs that are designed to do exactly what you want and I am sure that using a graphics tablet would the the easiest and most accurate way to use it if you are not well versed in using the touch pad on your notebook.
Here are a few links to such programs:

This should get you started ...
Photoshop while a powerful program is designed for shooters (photographers), pre-press tech's and post production wizards.

I'm realizing that I'm not very good at designing our flower garden and I thought maybe I could get some help online. I'm working with annual flowers right now. I did a search and found a couple of sites, but I'm looking for something simple - maybe with pictures and simple information. Any helpful sites would be appreciated. Thanks.
I personally think the best rules in design are as few as possible. Just plant and have fun! That being said they teach us master gardeners a few basic rules:
1-Keep it simple.
2-Plan for low maintenance.
3-Work from an overall plan (I often violate this)
4-Call Miss Dig (A free service in Michigan - it's to locate buried power lines.)
5-Don't make beds too narrow.
6-Don't plant trees too close to the house or other plants.
7- Make sure you get plants which do well in your climate and region.
With that in mind, here's some sites:

I was looking at books and Barnes and Noble and there were a few pictures I liked but that was the only thing I liked in the whole book. So I was hoping you guys could help me out by either scanning the pictures from your books and emailing them to me or by giving me link to a website where they are.
The books are:
Sunset Pool and Spa: Page 150 gray and white house
Sunset Big Book of Garden Design: Page 106 - 107 A Family Garden
Pool Scaping: Page 171 Spa with waterfall
Page 137 Water slide
I tried that first and my library is very out of date with very little available on this topic, but thank you for the suggestion.
How about trying the library first...
EDIT: You can also see if they can get the chitecture-books/">book from another library, they can check who has it and get it for you. FYI
Don't need the thumbs down people, just trying to help. :)

A path Paved with Copper?
I recently saw that the Standard Grill in the Standard Hotel in New York installed a floor paved with pennies. Ever the designer, I quickly calculated that cost per square foot for this (raw) material. A quick calculation comes in at a quite affordable $2.50/ sq. ft.

My first thought was how interesting this might be in a garden. Of course there are so many different things to consider in garden design vs. interior design. Like how something might age or weather. How lovely would it be to have a path paved in copper? Or so I thought.

Did you know that pennies really aren’t copper any more? I think I knew this on some level but when thinking about outdoor paving, it really is quite an important consideration. You see, prior to 1983, all US pennies were 95% copper…so when they aged, they turned green. After 1983, they are now about 97% zinc. Zinc really doesn’t age and will stay looking the same (except perhaps dirty). I am not sure how hard it is to find copper pennies anymore, but wouldn’t this be a lovely accent in garden hardscaping? Maybe Copper pennies could be used to draw pictures in a zinc penny scheme that will become more visible with time?

The Gold Medal Garden at Tatton
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to create a gold medal garden in two weeks, look no further.
Philip Dugdale and Alan Burns, of C³ Landscape Architects , have recently won the gold medal for the Best Visionary garden 2009 and have been kind enough to share some of the pictures of development with us!
Recent graduates of Leeds Metropolitan University, these two young landscape architects have surpassed any expectations held of them. The garden took two years of planning, 6 months of non-stop work (including growing all the plants themselves), 3000 flags of ethically sourced Indian Sandstone, 283 wire cages (gabions), 17 tonnes of stone, 3 tonnes of steel and a collective weight loss of 3 stone between the duo!
