Hello,
I am planning to build a bamboo/cane-shade in my roof garden (or rather pay someone to to it :) I am looking for ideas... I'd like the shade to cover only part of the roof area to provide shade in summer (summers in Malta can be very hot!). The shade has to stand strong wind, sun and rain and be aesthetically pleasing. Any design ideas?
Many thanks,
Inga
Hi, see if you can get someone to build you a dome out of bamboo, it doesn't need to be completely solid to give you the shade that you need and would look really natural on your roof garden.
The trick to designing a shade garden for plants is knowing which flowers need shade and which can thrive without. Create a shade garden to ...
I'm looking to make an easy to maintain container garden using a large Roman-esque pot. I'm looking for some design ideas that include height in the center with a mound and edging flora. Plant choices that include color and/or fragrance would be excellent as well. This container will sit in a semi-shaded area on the front porch in Southern California.
I have used a few of the designs from Better Homes and Gardens.

Mr. Petri has a rectangular plot of land with length that equal 20 ft. and the width is 10 ft. He wants to design a flower garden in the shape of a cirlce with two semicircles at each end of the center circle. He will fill in the shaded area with wood chips. If one bag of wood chips covers 5 square feet, how many bags must he buy.
*** It's a regents question. The diagram is shown for number 39 on August 2005.
I know the answer is 9 but how do you solve the problem.
Please, help me. This is hw and it's due for tommorow. Thank you very much
okay first the area of the rectangle which is 200.
Then you need to find the area of the circles. Altogether there are two circles right. So now do the formula for a circle. (pie x r squared) *radius would be 5 . Multiply the answer by 2, for both circles than subtract it by 200. You then divide the answer by 5. I got 8.6, and since you cant get 8.6 bags just make it 9. Hope that helped
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that oral sex within marriage is unnatural, unclean, and sinful. Yet the Bible is pretty much silent on the subject, although Song of Solomon (especially verses 2:3; 4:16; 8:2) makes poetical references to it. So it seems that God is not concerned with what part of the bodies a married couple might be touching, including where they kiss their mate.
However, the Watchtower writes:
“The natural way for a married couple to have sexual relations is quite apparent from the very design given their respective organs by the Creator. We believe that the vast majority of persons would normally reject as repugnant the practice of oral copulation.”
How does this view relate to the Bible verses below?
As an apricot tree stands out in the forest,
All I want is to sit in his shade,
to taste and savor his delicious love.
He took me home with him for a festive meal,
but his eyes feasted on me!
Breathe on my garden,
fill the air with spice fragrance.
Oh, let my lover enter his garden!
Yes, let him eat the fine, ripe fruits.
I'd take you by the hand and bring you home
Where You'd drink my wine
Poя¢єℓαιη Vєssєℓ: Your group has prohibited a common practice within marriages that most Christians would say is a matter of conscience (a private matter between a consenting husband & wife). If you have a scriptural basis for this prohibition within a marriage, I would like to read it.
Edit: Poя¢єℓαιη Vєssєℓ: I guess we have to disagree on this issue. You asked if I am going to “disregard” the scripture. Well, yes and no. Yes, in the sense that the scripture you cited was referring to sex outside the marital bounds (doesn’t apply to a married couple). No, in the sense that I’ve personally not a big fan of the practice – but that is just me at this point in my marriage. You see, I’ve been married for almost 16 years and we’re not into it that much now (maybe once year, if at all). But I don’t think there’s anything unbiblical about it or unnatural about it at all.
I am a Southern Baptist Christian lady, and I have read the Bible from
one end to the other and I haven't seen any guidelines about what
two married people do.
Sex is God's gift to people who commit themselves to a life long
marriage and He wants married people to enjoy each other, instead
of going outside of the marriage for enjoyment.
If someone felt it was wrong for them to do a particular thing, then it
probably would be, but if God has not convicted them of it, I don't see
a problem, but I am not expert, but I have taught Sunday School for
25 years.
May God bless you and keep you safe.

Planning and good design feed an urban family
“The woman over the back — she’s from an Italian family — is the only other person around here with a vegetable garden. There’s all this land in backyards going to waste, just growing lawn. The only useful trees in gardens, directly useful to people that is, is the unused lemon tree next door, an unharvested Magenta Lillypilly ( ) a couple houses down and my mandarin tree.
“One of the reasons for redesigning the garden was to make suburban living more sustainable in a food and in an environmental sense, so we do not have to buy food that is imported great distances and so we can make effective use of our kitchen and garden wastes to make compost”.
First, the designWhen Fiona set out to design the food garden she quickly discovered the site’s limiting factors. These were a nutrient-poor, sandy soil, a large Jacaranda tree at the northern end of the garden and a neighbour’s tall oleanders that cast long shadows over the garden, making up to two-thirds of the site unusable in winter.

Wow, wow, wow. What a beautiful transformation. I really like that you stuck to your designer's vision and have ended up with a space that says--'I'm a garden for an individual' rather than something less idiosyncratic. Bravo, I say!
Thanks Susan! I actually thought of you as I was posting as this garden has more of an East Coast feel than what I usually design for clients. Maybe because of the shade?
That looks amazing. I love the wall and the color. I also love the pathways and the plantings around them. The patio tiles make a huge difference. It is hard to stop ripping things out once you get started. I think that's why my husband always get nervous with my ideas, because he knows it never ends up being as simple as I say it is.
The same fear of "ideas" exists around here, LOL! Both my contractor and my husband now roll their eyes whenever I start a sentence with "you know, I just had a new idea..."...
