what can i do with my neighbour who parks the front of his car on our front garden?

For over a year we have asked our neighbour constantly to park his van on his own land as it laps a lot on our lawn. He has totally ignored our request. Our house is semi detached and the front area is open plan. Also its annoying as our landscaped view is hidden behind his van which is falling into bits

I have a few thoughts.
1. Get some deer urine and spray it in his van on the seats and carpet.
2. Cut his brake lines.
3. Slice his tires.
4. Place nail spikes on your property and let him flatin his own tires.
5. Place a speaker in your yard and play loud sounds: Dogs barking or something annoying.
6. Put animal poop on the drivers seat.
7. Torch the van.
8. Grease the handles on the doors of his van.
9. Place a sign in his yard - saying something like "Child Molester lives here".
This is not to say you wont get into trouble - but I am sure you would get his attention.
If he disrespected my request - Id make him wish he never lived beside me.

Is there a website that will help me pick out plants for my landscape?

I'm far from a plant expert, but I'd like to change out the plants in my front garden bed. Is there a website where I can view which plants will prosper in my area and perhaps see options of which plants look good together?

You are asking for a lot from just one sight. There are several design sites but to do what you ask works best over several sites & books.
Books on matching plants to the growing conditions:
'Right Plant Right Place' by Ferguson is a standard reference book. She also wrote 'Right Plant, Right Place: Over 1400 Plants for Every Situation in the Garden'
'Perennial Combinations' Di Sabato-Aust
'Companions to Clematis' Badcock
Timber press for garden books they publish

Websites:

http://www.wildtypeplants.com/right.html
http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_dftg /episode/0,2046,DIY_17216_25239,00.html< br />
Talk to people or just look up information about the plants to see how they work for other gardeners in a garden-wiki. They have plant files and review mail order nurseries.

Fine Gardening of Taunton Press has a great website. There are articles, do-it-yourself projects, and how-tos. They publish a great magazine, too!

If you were a picture what kind of picture would you be ?

We used to play this at University . You had to guess who someone was just by their description of an object. i.e. One girl who was a country girl was described as :-

animal - a rabbit
house - a cottage
shoes - a pair of wellies
picture - a landscape
book - gardening book
and so on until one of the group guessed who it was.

It was interesting to see what others thought you were like.

Did you ever play any of thes games ? and were you ever disapointed in how people thought of you ?

I was surprised how people who had not know me long were preety accurate with their view of me.

"No" I have not played this game before.

  • How To Change My Yard View By Landscape Supplies? | Home and Gardening

If you have a look around your yard, you’ll definitely notice, something need to be changed there. Maybe you don’t know where and how to start but you don’t feel good about it. Changing yard view is not like making sky rocket or something, only with few landscape supplies, we can make a big difference. Sometimes we don’t need to purchase anything by make supplies out of your yard or garage junks creatively.

One of the most popular and wide useful landscape supplies is edging beside rocks and lawn. Edging plays frame role in backyard or garden (fence). In fact you can frame (fence) your whole yard border around or just frame small part of it (garden beds). Even you can enclose your big tree with short wooden edging. Isn’t sound eye catching?

Also there is lot of different types of landscape edging materials which create alternatives and lot of choices for your tact and taste. For instance, you can make a garden bed of short beautiful outdoor Boonsai and edge it with short 20 inch bamboo, if you are a Zen style fan.

Yell.com Head of Content responds: Landscape and garden expert

    Phil,

I thought I'd respond personally to the email you sent to Rob yesterday. I've had a chance to have a look at your blog and it's immediately clear why he contacted you back in May. We were looking for people who write passionately about gardening and your blog fitted the bill in every way.

However I quite understand why you didn't want to give content away. Establishing a blog like yours is no small achievement. For some bloggers an invite to guest blog on Yell.com will be the right thing to do, for others it simply won't.

I sense from the proposed post you sent to us that we've upset you in some way. If we have, I apologise. We are currently building a big network of bloggers and freelance writers and naturally we enter into a wide range of relationships with them. I have great hopes for the Yell gardening blog and I'm well aware that bloggers will only contribute if they get back more than they put in.

I have no problem at all with you publishing this post. I have nothing to hide and I welcome the debate. All I would ask is that you publish my response in full.
