What's the difference between a landscape designer and a landscape architect? Also, how do you become a landscape architect/landscape designer?

Well this is one of those questions where the answer has to be a bit vague...
A landscape designer is someone that generally only works with plants and 'softscaping' only theoretically designing or including structures such as walls and pathways. A designer can provide you with a quite complex landscape plan.
A landscape architect is more inclined to include very detailed information on the 'hardscaping' specifying details about the structure of a wall or paving. An architect will provide a highly detailed landscape plan drawn to scale & including specification etc.
Add to this a landscape engineer who will add construction detail & absolute specifications (e.g. - pier holes to be 300mm wide by 500mm deep with 100mm bed of 20mm clean drainage aggregate in the base etc etc)
Soooo... a landscape designer may well be a landscape architect & vice versa.
It could also be said that all landscape architects are landscape designers but not all designers are architects...
Hope this helps :)

How does a landscape architect get a ME degree? Would I need to go back for a bachelor's in engineering?

I have an undergrad degree in landscape architecture and want to get a master's in engineering. Do I need a bachelor's in engineering first or are their programs that will count my landscape architect degree as fulfilling the requirements?

If there are openings in a grad school program, you could well get admitted. You would have to take a lot of the undergrad courses, so the MS (or ME) could take an additional 2 years. We used to call such grad students "retreads", because they had to be brought back down to the core of what they had learned, and added to, in order to get what they found that they wanted after their first (or sometimes second) BS. Because of the economy, finding a program with openings for a retread might be more of a challenge.

How do I become a landscape architect?

I have a little landscaping company, I want to go back to school for landscape architect, but its been pretty hard to find any information online, I live in texas and need help on how to become a landscape architect.

Your key source in Texas is the Texas ASLA. Landscape architects in Texas are licensed by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (Architects, Landscape Architects, etc.) If you contact the Texas ASLA they will have information on educational programs in Texas. April is National Landscape Architecture Month by the way! Good luck.

What do you think about Landscape Architect?

I am going to have an Landscape Architecture major in Cal Poly Pomona. However, they said I need to spend 3 years to graduate.
1. Do you think Landscape Architect is a great job to keep my life wealthy?
2. Is that possible to apply of changing my major into Architecture right after the transfer? so I can get my major of architecture next fall 2008?
3. Which is ideal job in the future , Landscape architect or Architect?

I used to work for a landscape design and construction company; I personally was the purchaser and made sure materials go to the crews. We had salesmen that would hand-draw the initial plan or make a crude CAD drawing and then we had designated CAD artists that would translate hem into construction plans and homeowner plans.

One of our most successful salesman did all his own selling and CAD work, and he made excellent money. Understand that this was residential work we did for some pretty high-end customers and so the commissions were usually pretty fat.

The terrain is desert here, so I ended up ordering a lot of granite, flagstone, pavers, and masonry goods as well as all kinds of flora. Not a bad gig here because there are SO MANY new homes and people with money moving here (PHX area) and a lot of older homes being bought and remodeled. If you follow the growth, you'll find work doing either...

The Herning Center of the Arts unites three distinct cultural institutions: the Herning Museum of Contemporary Art , the MidWest Ensemble and the Socle du Monde. The new center is intended to be an innovative forum combining visual art and music.

The museum’s design fuses landscape and architecture in a one-level building that will include permanent and temporary exhibition galleries, a 150-seat auditorium, music rehearsal rooms, a restaurant, a media library, and administrative offices.

Herning’s prominent relationship with textiles and the Museum’s large collection of original works by Piero Manzoni (in total 46 works) form the inspiration for the concept design. The museum is sited near Herning’s original Angli shirt factory, and the shirt collar-shaped plan of its 1960s building has inspired the shape of the new museum building.
