What are three elements of landscape architecture?

Well, you need to have knowledge of all kinds of plants - trees & shrubs, herbaceous perennials, etc., including what conditions they all need and thrive in, and their disease and pest weaknesses, and maintenance requirements.

You need a knowledge of general design, using buildings, hardscaping elements (including decks, patios, waterfeatures, and more), and plants.

You'll need some minimal drafting and business knowledge, which includes customer relations.

A Landscape "Designer" usually has a 2 to 4 year degree, and usually deal with residential and small business situations.

A Landscape "Artchitect" is a desinger, that has been through an apprenticeship for a number of years, and has passed a state exam for licensing. They usually work in large public and commercial situations.

Island Station Ecological Site Analysis/Synthesis

Hey im trying to decide on a career for the future and i like the concept of landscape architecture but i need to find a career that makes more money and need ideas

Construction management. Any of the builders are going to make more than the designers for building or landscape. Couple landscape knowledge with project management and cost estimation skills - you'll have a pretty penny with your name on it.

Civil engineering. Not as exciting, but you can do bridges and highways and make dollars.

Otherwise, be the guy who owns the land for sale or rent.

Who has a better Landscape Architecture program?
Cloud City

Who has a better Landscape Architecture program: Oklahoma University (Norman, OK) or Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, OK)? Anyone that either goes to one of these schools or knows about landscape architecture please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I am a second year landscape architecture student at Cal Poly SLO. I don't know about either of those school's programs, but I do have advice on what to look for in a program:
-accredidation- if your college of landscape architecture isn't accredited, your degree won't count
-studios with low student to teacher ratios 30-1 is the highest I'd go
-which program has professors that are more qualified and have worked in a larger range of areas in the field (for example maybe one worked in residential for years and another for the forestry service and another on large-scale commercial.. get a good mix)
-what school has a pace you can keep up with
-reputation of the school and its connections- will you have opportunities to intern with alumni?

Landscape Architecture: Dealing With a #39;Larger Scale#39; | Planetizen

"Q: Your work at West 8 combines architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. What is the difference for you between these disciplines?

With architecture, there is a client, there is a brief, there is a budget, and there is a location. Normally with a park, after you have been chosen to design it, there are still a lot of questions. What is the aim? Where are the entrances? How will people use the space? Sometimes there isn't even a location. In landscape architecture and urban planning, we deal with a larger scale than architecture and design, however the real difference is that architecture is more influential. If you're an architect, you can determine the final result. In landscape architecture and urban planning, that's not the case. You might influence the outcome, but that's about it."
