Years ago I worked in a amateur way in gardening maintenance. I realice that I liked it a lot but I don't have the specific knoledge and experience to start a landscape and gardening design business. I have the feeling that I have the creativity for doing this but of course this is not all. Could someone help me telling me the kind of tools that I would require to start this gradually? Maybe I would requiere to know some landscape design software, etc. In short, what kind of tools would be necesary to have and learn. Maybe the thing would be more complex like doing an Business plan? I'll thank any advice. Chris

Gardener: A truck or trailer to carry your equipment and debris (although some enterprising people have even started without this). A lawn mower, rake, broom, and other small hand tools. Buy your equipment used if necessary, but shop carefully.
Landscaper: Basically you need hand tools and a truck or trailer. To start with most other tools you can rent.
Interiorscaper: A car or truck is necessary, watering cans, and assorted small hand tools.
>From the basic requirements to start it would seem that interiorscaping requires the smallest capital outlay. This is correct, but starting an interiorscape business is more difficult in other ways. It requires a better understanding of the trade. Indoor plants are much more difficult to maintain. Also, acquiring accounts is not as easy as in outdoor work. Most, if not all, interiorscape accounts will be commercial, as opposed to the residential work of gardeners.
For gardeners and landscapers a truck or trailer is a must, but as I mentioned earlier it is possible to start without one for some work. If you are doing maintenance you may be able to get accounts that will allow you to use their equipment and not require you to haul away debris. You will be expected to work very inexpensively, though. If you can get a truck do so.
For both gardeners and landscapers another source of income is from clean-ups. This is simply a one-time job of cleaning up an overgrown landscape. These jobs are hard work, but can be quite profitable.
In every business you have to contend with the government. Service businesses are no different. Before you get started investigate what is required in your area. Most likely you will need a business license from your city. The state may require a contractor's license or certification for landscape contractors. Most likely your state will require a pest control license if you intend to apply pesticides. Check out all the city, state, and federal rules before you start.

I am looking for a way to help see my landscaping and gardening come together before I start planting and landscaping. Any ideas of websites or tools that let you put in a design of your house and fencing and start from there?
There are many, many pieces of design software on the market today. From professional versoins costing thousands of dollars to free versions. So I think the best thing to do is give you a couple of links and chech out the free software from google.
I have some of friend and relatives asking for design their home garden. Honestly said since I do learn the subject and practices it, kind of common sense when you use to hang with the thing again and again. May I know what is the problem your're facing when you're try to do you own landscape/garden design :)
Scale is the biggest problem. Most people plant things like they will never get bigger. Consequently they plant them too close to the house or too close to other plants or they plant too many plants for a given area. If a person can imagine what the plants will look like in 10 years, that's the best way to design, unless you have been trained.

Landscape amp; Garden Design | Re: Empire Zoysia Turf supplier (Melb)
That sort of reminds me why the turf farms also can't produce greener turf in winter of many types. Turf farms are generally located in open flat areas. Therefore they tend to be prone to frosts. A frost will harm the cells in a leaf causing them to die and that creates brown leaves. If you use fertiliser to make something grow you get lush growth (is lush growth on your tummy good?) and that has very thin cell walls that lose water easy in summer and are susceptible to disease, pests and stress and damage from frost. that is why i say, even if it looks like poo now, get it anyway, persevre with the look. It will recover. It won't die. Good turf has heaps of energy stored in the root systems and dead leaf means little in new roll on turf. It will go green and Empire Zoysia will become a strong, waterwise turf that needs very little attention over the years to come.
Landscape amp; Garden Design | Re: Watering systems
I was talking to the guy in the shop and he said that for the area I want to irrigate the pump should be fine but even if the irrigation ends up being longer then I can run a separate bank or something. They however don't do irrigation so I still need to talk to someone about that and thinking of ringing Netafim and asking them some questions about some of their irrigation kits as I don't want to get one part of the puzzle and then find out it wont actually work properly. Thanks Fu! I spent a lot of time on the weekend going over the Netafim site, I like it how they have the eFlow kit that you can buy for the grey water. Their site says they have an office here in Victoria but I'm not sure if it's a shop front or not, I will call them though to find out. There is soooooo much information on the Netafim site - diagrams and suggestions on how to lay out the irrigation, how far apart etc and calculations to tell you how long to leave them going for and how much water that would use etc...
