My fence has just fallen down in the wind. i live in the Cambridge area (uk). My garden in 14feet by 14 feet.
Company called Sky Fencing (Wickford Essex) did my fencing to an incredibly high standard, and it hasn't even moved after all these high winds.
Can't find phone number at the moment, but will re-post if I come across it.

There is an old saying 'If business is good it pays to advertise, if business is bad you've got to advertise'!!
You need to get a few quid together have loads of leaflets printed out 'Free quotes given' 'Unbeatable prices' all the usual guff then really mean it!
No use at all trying to advertise on here, in fact just about negative
You are not begging for work you are offering a service cheaper and better than all others in the area! Aren't you???
You will know from past experience that once you have completed a few jobs at a very fair price word of mouth will take over.
Just prepare for a few adverse comments from this forum on the subject of advertising, I just thought I would get this in before battle commences!! Good luck on your enterprise.
i have been in business for four months now landscape gardening and i am looking to obtain a grant of one thousand pounds. i need to buy a chainsaw and all of the safety equipment and get the license. i think this would increase my business significantly and would speed up expansion allowing me to invest in more equipment and possibly employing someone full time. does anyone know if i would be eligible to get a grant for these reasons?
In order to support your funding application, you'll need a solid business plan that demonstrates how the finance will increase your business and how you'll repay the loan.
Business Link is definitely a good place to start. They can help with setting out your business plan and they'll give you advice on who to approach for funds. Many funders expect you to put up at least half of what you require.
Good luck!

My mums neighbour has erected a garden fence which is an absolute eyesore and although not blocking light, it does obsure an otherwise clear landscape. I am also sure they have put it back to front because the struts are on my mums side and the actual panels are on the neighbours side.
Is there a legal height limit for a garden fence? what is it? and which way round should the fence panels face?
I think thats a question for your local council, most councils have their own websites and you can look up planning applications on there. I think basically if its over 6ft is the rule of thumb though, but youre mum can have a go at objecting to it, if it blocks light.
WE tried to buy a property and spent several thousand pounds aranging removals decorating carpets loss of earnings we are self employed etc . reasonably forseeable expences .The vendor knew there was a mine entry about 10 ft from the building that he discovered when changing to gas!! he had covered it up with a metal grid and a ton of concrete then landscaped his garden govering up the site with several tons of top soil and railway sleepers, he claims his solicitor advised him to say in his disclosure that we should rely on searches but no search would have shown up the shaft as he covered it up! we had mining searches done but they failed to show up the mine. The coal authority do not have records of all the exact locations of shafts in area we found out about it through the locals. the vendor through his solicitor has confirmed its existance. we lost thousands any suggestions.
Could we make a claim for our losses under misrepresentation of a material fact ? please help thanks
Information from the seller
Sellers and estate agents don't have to point out any problems in the property to potential buyers. But if you ask direct questions (such as asking whether the roof leaks, or whether there have been problems with dampness or condensation) they have to answer your questions truthfully. If you go on to buy the property and discover that you were given false or misleading information, you might be able to take action. Get advice from a solicitor if you are in this situation.

Creating a traditional dry stone wall with local resources ...
As you travel from place to place in the UK (or the world) there is much historical evidence of localised material production and use.
In areas such as Wales, Scotland and Cornwall, local stone, often only hauled across a field from a quarry adjacent to its final resting place, has been used for whole villages, including boundary walls and even roofs.
Wood was cut in the local woodland with straw and mud taken from neighbouring farmland. Often, clay pits would be opened up and the clay fired to produce bricks and tiles.
On land that has high flint content, the flint was knapped and used in conjunction with brick and stone to build houses - all in all, a sensible way to utilise natural resources as close as possible to the building site.
I think that garden designers and landscapers (and house builders) are faced with an increased challenge of sourcing and using local materials in new gardens or additional features in existing schemes.
In this You Tube video, Cornwall Landscaping demonstrates how local stone is used to build strong but, aesthetically pleasing, boundary walls.
...UK Food Security assessment launched by DEFRA: Landscape and ...
Speaking at the launch, Hilary Benn said:"Our food strategy will need to cover all aspects of our food – production, processing, distribution, retail, consumption and disposal. And that includes the impact on our health, on the environment and future productivity, on how we deal with food waste."
DEFRA has also launched - in conjunctions with the Department of Health and the Food Standards Agency - an online discussion called food 2030 to debate the challenges of our food system up to 2030.
You have until 16th October 2009 to comment on the Food 2030 forum.
