Landscape lighting? Does anyone know of a company that can help with lighting design?

I understand the wiring and voltage drop etc... I need help with the lighting design. I want to light up the front of my home (stone face)(wall wash & columns) and do some up lighting and down lighting on trees (moon lighting effect) (wooded lot -nice mature trees). I've seen some really nice lighting in my area and understand the concepts but need help in knowing what kind of fixtures and bulbs - also placement.

Any suggestion on a good company? Minnesota - Twin Cities

ELS (Executive Lighting Solutions) They helped me out. It's great you can send them photos and they can even draw right on them to let you know where to put the fixtures. I was impressed with their knowledge on how to light different areas. I had gone through a couple of different landscape contractor but they didn't seem to know much about the different techniques, they just wanted to sell me fixtures.

Good luck. (I think they are up in your neck of the woods)

My company is looking for someone to design/engineer an outdoor lighting fixture. can anyone help?

I am with a small landscape lighting company and need help with the design of a fixture.
specifically low voltage lighting. LED lighting knowledge a plus

you haven't defined the application/usage of the lighting...

Unidirectional ? Omnidirectional ? Swivel ? fixed ? Array ? standalone ? halogen ? LED ? polarized ? rechargeable solar ? hardwire ? plastic ? metal alloy ? decorative ?watt/electricity limits ? other design limitations or parameters ?

Anyhow, an engineering or home fixtures company could assist you.

New build home Design Center Upgrades? Which ones improve the homes value?

I think I got a great deal on a new build home. Now it's time for the landscape, wiring, and design center appointments. I'm cool in all areas except the design center. Light fixtures, faucets, etc, I can do myself. Is it smart to upgrade the counter tops, cabinets, sinks, etc (major items)? The costs of these items are rolled into the price of the home at closing. OR should I wait until my finances permit and do them myself? The only thing I'm sure on upgrading is the carpet pad.

Kitchen and bath upgrades (especially master bath) are key resale selling points. Also crown molding in the primary living areas is a big plus. Good luck.

hard to say unless i see it for my self but........ read the receptacle..... there should be a "line" side and a "load" side .... the line side is the black wire that is hot when the circuit breaker is on... the other black is not on, that is the wire that feeds the "loads", ..the gfci ... ground fault circuit interrupter.....protects everything daisy chained after it.... so are there 3 black wires after you extended it to the back yard?....... those go on the load side.... black on brass color....all the whites under the silver screw..... and the green or bare copper to the ground screw .... and the black and red buttons are test and reset.... turn it on and push the reset button..... and if it is positively wired correctly and trips... the switch could be bad or something is grounded... good luck...

  • Let There Be Light The Basics Of Landscape Lighting

Landscape lighting is all about the artistry of light Whether subtle or dramatic, it creates a different kind of beauty, one built on the way light and shadow play together It turns the ordinary into the extraordinary-just like on a theater stage The right landscape lighting allows you to showcase beautiful trees and garden elements, but, at the same time, lets you control what you don’t want people to see by leaving some things dark From a practical standpoint, it provides security and safe access and is often recommended as a relatively inexpensive way to increase your property value

For the homeowners’ pleasure as well as guests, landscape lighting acknowledges and addresses the fact that, for about 30 percent of the time, your landscape is viewed at night Since so many people work and don’t come home until after dark, landscape lighting means homeowners can still enjoy their outdoor property, whenever they get home It turns the landscape into a 24-hour event

What You Don#39;t Know About Landscape Lighting Kits | Pleasant Ranch

A well landscaped garden is a wonderful escape. The only thing better is enjoying that getaway after the Sun has gone down. Accomplishing that requires landscape lighting and the very notion was once both prohibitively difficult to implement and painfully expensive. Fortunately, developments in landscape lighting have made this an attainable dream with low-cost, easy-to-install landscape lighting kits. But before you dash off to the hardware store, you really should know their limitations or you’re sure to wind up disappointed.

Landscape lighting kit manufacturers such as Malibu have presented us with what, on the surface, seems like a great idea. But the materials used to keep costs down introduce some limitations compared to their metal counterparts. It is ignorance of those limitations that often leads ambitious consumers to rush a purchase that doesn’t live up to their expectations once installed so that’s our objective here today, to cover the good, the bad and the ugly and manage your expectations accordingly. I do ask that you read to the end, though, as there are definitely good reasons to opt for kits.
