Edinburgh College of Art or Sheffield University for Landscape Architecture?
U.T. Medical Center - On Exit

I have had offers from Edinburgh College of Art, Manchester Metropolitan, Leeds Metropolitan, Kingston and Sheffield University. I am interested in conservation and the ecology/landscape architecture course at Sheffield has excellent teaching marks etc. The course in Edinburgh is only landscape architecture but I love the idea of living in Edinburgh. How do these 2 universities compare? What are the students like? Which has the best reputation and higher standard course/facilities?
thank you - i wasn't expecting anyone such informative responses! if it is possible could you please tell me more about ECA / the course / student life?

I live in Sheffield don't go to Sheffield Uni but go the Hallam. Sheffield is a really good city for students in my opinion. I feel really safe in the city which I never really have in Cities as i come from the country orginally. It's also surprisingly green especially around Sheffield Uni there are lots of parks. The nightlife is really good and Sheffield uni offers some great bands at their union I have never heard a bad word from the people here and it's cheap to go out in town. However, I think the accommodation for Sheffield Uni is pretty expensive but if you didn't want to stay in halls private accommodation is inexpensive and there is a lot of competition so a lot of the houses are up to an excellent standard. Sheffield Uni does have a good reputation and the facilities are apparently good.

Unfortunately no idea about Edinburgh at all.

Congrats about getting your places.

Who has a better Landscape Architecture program?
U.T. Medical Center - Waiting

Who has a better Landscape Architecture program: Oklahoma University (Norman, OK) or Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, OK)? Anyone that either goes to one of these schools or knows about landscape architecture please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I am a second year landscape architecture student at Cal Poly SLO. I don't know about either of those school's programs, but I do have advice on what to look for in a program:
-accredidation- if your college of landscape architecture isn't accredited, your degree won't count
-studios with low student to teacher ratios 30-1 is the highest I'd go
-which program has professors that are more qualified and have worked in a larger range of areas in the field (for example maybe one worked in residential for years and another for the forestry service and another on large-scale commercial.. get a good mix)
-what school has a pace you can keep up with
-reputation of the school and its connections- will you have opportunities to intern with alumni?

I'm currently a student in a rather prestigious university (Purdue), majoring in Landscape Architecture. I'm only a freshman, but I like it a lot. The undergraduate program in LA is well recognized (ranked in the top 10 in LA by Design Intelligence). The only problem is that I don't know if the profession is all that it is hyped up to be. Any insight on this would be helpful.
I'm also thinking about Business Construction Management, which is another program here that I am considering.

My current academic GPA is a 3.0, if this helps.

Actually, i think it is a pretty bad a$$ job. If you like to be outside...if you like to be creative...if you like drawing both by hand and on the computer...its a great job!! I have a great friend that does LA, he owns his own company and is doing great and he love it.
Personally i am a creative person, and love the creative aspects of my job (sorta similar to LA). you just have to figure out what is important to you about your future career.
