Go to the library and research different design areas to see where your interests and strengths lie. Do you like inside or outside? Ask your parents if you can use your home as your first experience. Explore and have fun with your ideas!

Im from the DR and soon I'm going to take this class in a place that is related to Parsons The New School for Design. I am an interior design student and the class I'm gonna take is about my career (interior design) and the person who is going to give to be class is David Ling. I know is gonna super good for my knowledge and my future. I was thinking to take this other class which is landscaping. Do you think its helpful for my career?

It is helpful if you plan on doing exterior landscaping designs or want to leave that option open in the future. But it's not necessary for an interior designer to have taken landscape design as it is a related design field but not the same field.

Hi, there's a lot of interactive programs you can download for free. If you search online, look for one called realtime landscaping. You download it, you can even take a picture of your own house and pick your plants, trees etc. Some will even let you "walk through the yard" and "see" what it looks like.

We just finished building a earth-sheltered home. Earth-sheltered home are homes built into the side of a south facing hillside. I plan on doing the landscaping myself to save money. So I need to do some looking into basic landscaping design. I've done the landscaping with my other homes that have had grass and few trees before, but never any thing from scratch. I do have big equipment experience. So that is not a problem for me.

I guess the equipment you use will depend on the plans you decide on and the terrain of the property. I personally would use the internet for information on landscaping and ideas.

I need some backyard landscaping designs to get ideas for my own yard. Is there a website where I can find these? Or if you can send me the design or your backyard it would be appreciated. I live in arizona and have a fairly big backyard any ideas (ie. what plants, trees rocks, grass, stone walkways etc.) thanks
