I can only describe them as "abortions on the landscape". Why do architects design such s**t buildings?
Take the centre of Edinburgh as an example, look at the magnificent buildings and then look at the little coffee shop in the centre of the park? Who designed that, and more to the point, which inept person passed it??
Clearly, we are lacking ability in the architecture field.
Our buildings reflect us. It's a no-time, hurry-up, efficient and cost-effective world. No ornamentation. No workmanship. No future.

I just bought a new house that's BARE! I need help decorating it, but I don't have a creative bone in my body? I love asian, contemporary, modern styles! Does anyone know of any interior design programs that utilizes actual rooms for class projects? Plus I'm broke now that I bought a new house. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! I also need landscaping ideas!!!
I live in Temecula, California by the way.
I think your best bet is to write a show like HGTV, and see if they have a program that might use you as a TV showcase.
This could be online or stores in real life. Im mostly interested in either artistic/design posters (modern work, not like landscapes and such) or music/band posters. Thanks!!

i have been working on it all weekend and i still dont know how to figure it out. i tried to find the pattern but all i get is 1, 2, 3, and so on but that cant be the pattern, can it? i also tried making it smaller which didn't work. can someone please help me?
A landscape architecht needs to design a path for the museum of modern art the path is to be made of red and black tiles in the following pattern: 1 red, 1 black, 2 red, 2 black, 3 red, 3 black, 4 red, 4 black and so on. the pattern of alternating colors is to continue so that each block of single color has 1 more tile than the preceding block of the same color. the museum curator estimated that 5000 tiles will be needed for the project. she ordered 2500 black and 2500 red ones. if the landscape architect wants to use all of these tiles and have the path end with a block of black tiles followed by the same number of red tiles, what is the smallest number of additional black and red tiles that should be ordered?
duh Adawg.......now how do i do that is what im asking....imbecile.
Well divide 5000 by 2 since there is 2 colors. Then all you have to is figure out the pattern and find out what number n in the patter will get you 5000.
I want to build a three story "castle" like house, but on a modern home scale. I am planning on having about 4 acres of land to build on so a decent sized house. I already have my rough draft of my first floor, floor plan drawn out.
I will take any ideas for room sizes, room locations, etc. I want the third story to have an observatory area extending through the roof, along with my master bedroom. The master bedroom will also have a balcony extending outside facing the front and rear of the estate. The second story is mainly guest beds and bathrooms, and such. The first floor will have a large kitchen, decent sized den a foot lower than the rest of first floor level, a library and a foyer. A decent sized basement for storage and laundry. Each corner of the house will have a hexagonal style tower design to bring out more of the castle like feel. This will also add a bit more room and aura for the dining room, library and guest rooms. I still plan on putting about another year or two into the basic plans before I start with the other things., and I am sure things will change.
I do plan on using stone, adding a pond, having a circular driveway with an extended entrance driveway lined with trees (not sure on the trees, landscaping will come last). Maybe some stained glass here and there.
As far as design programs, should I use AutoCAD? I am sure once I get my floor plans done, an actual architect will want to rearrange them a lot, but I want to get the basic design to my vision before he/she modifies it.
I will take any opinions/ideas generously.
My recommendation is for you to make a list of items that you want and leave the design to the professionals. From what you described so far, your "dream" house sounds like you're taking ideas from different magazines and dumping into a pile.

Creative Ideas for Modern Landscape Design
Modern landscape design is an evolving garden style created to complement new trends in architecture without interfering with contemporary living. Hardscape designs minimize outdoor maintenance and upkeep, while vibrant colors and intriguing patterns enhance the unique personalities of modern homes. The primary appeal of modern landscape design is its versatility to suit any home, regardless of the yard size. Contemporary garden styles combine natural beauty and functional outdoor space with unexpected materials and textures, creating a sophisticated, unique look that works well with any property. Modern landscaping is the perfect choice for small yards and unusual homes - and is ideal for those who desire an outdoor space with personal flair. While this garden design is quite flexible, there are a few common characteristics found in all modern outdoor styles. Clean, straight lines are usually always used and there are certain types of vegetation, materials, and accessories typically associated with this garden style. The colors and types of materials you choose for hardscapes, furnishings, and other outdoor features will determine how well your landscape design blends with your home. Select materials similar to those within your house and remember that hardscape designs play a very big role in modern landscaping. Consider gravel, concrete, colored pebbles, and tile in natural hues for terraces and walkways; simple wood beams in complementary colors can blend your outdoor space with your interior living areas. Integrate synthetic materials like canvas, plastic, and stainless steel into your design through furniture and accessories. Because of the space limitations with so many modern landscape designs, vegetation is less of a concern than it is in other design styles. Vibrant container gardens and colorful planters are popular additions to patios, while small lawns of lush mondo grass interject color amidst hardscape features. Plant life to consider includes: Outdoor furniture and accessories are an excellent opportunity to add your own personality and flair to your outdoor space. From Asian rock gardens to fiber-optic, color changing lights, the decor found within a typical modern landscape design is usually unique and stunning. Choose sleek metal benches and tables for seating and relaxing, steel wall fountains, colorful planters, and intriguing sculptures that complement your interior decor. Add color to your outdoor space by incorporating bright red, green, or blue accessories. Modern landscape design is a simple and creative garden style that can turn a small yard into a magnificent outdoor living area. Contacting a professional designer can ensure an outdoor space that meets your needs, while enhancing the contemporary style of your home. Be sure to choose a firm that specializes in modern landscape design.
