My girlfriend has a problem with black widows in their yard. She has landscaping lights in her front yard and?

found tons of egg sacks under the lights. She found like 15 eggs sacks in one, 11 on another 7 on one... then on each of those there was a really tightly woven web, and a male black widow was in each one. The males are harmless, but still with all of those egg sacks you know some females were bound to hatch!! What are some good sprays are thing she can do do get rid of these deadly creatures. Not to mention she has a 10 month old....

Well she needs to make sure that she crushes the egg sacks. Black widows are poinsounes but seldom do they kill children or adults. Never the less you don't want them!

The problem with this is that spiders only die by direct contact of an spray. So you need to elimante the food source for them. And be careful black widows must be smashed because they can play dead and they are hard to kill.

Now if she would like fresh eggs....I would suggest a couple of chickens. They like to eat them.

How to build a light post for your landscape

I want to give my 1946 Connecticut Cape Cod curb appeal, HELP!?

My home is boring and ugly...do you know of any websites that have pictures of attractive Capes? Mine is considered a "Revival" style with the chimney on the right, the living room is on the right and juts out about 4 feet. 1 car garage on left set back about 15 feet. I'm a very symetrical person and this bugs me! I can's afford huge additions, just minor moulding perhaps, or add stone, or change color, new lighting. landscaping etc. All will be done by me.

When I see a house I like, I can't figure out what it is that makes it special.

I want to keep it a classic Cape Cod

HELPPPPPPP!!!

If I wanted my house to have that cottage look the first thing I'd do is add window boxes and put lots of flowers in them that would accent the color of the home. Picket fencing and a trellis looks good. A pretty walkway to the front door freshens up the house. If you mean the chimney is on the front of the house on the right side, I love that look. Maybe you don't appreciate what you have. Look in some home and garden magazines at the library for ideas for flowers. A neat lawn and a pretty color on the front doors does wonders to give the house personality. If you like ivy, you could put some to grow up on the chimney to give it some charm. A fresh coat of paint on the house can make it looks pristine.

Is this a good landscape deal? In AZ?

How much of this is labor?
2-15 gallon trees
10-5 gallon plants
6-1 gallon plants
1258 sq ft SOD
10 tons of 1/2 inch rock
curbing around grass
sprinkler and drip system
4 malibu lights and 2 path lights

All for $3000 including tax

This doesn't sound too bad. I'm a Landscape Architect in Texas and I can give you some idea of cost and what you are paying in possible labor. The trees are running you about $125 a peice. The 5 gallon shrubs are probably $25 each. The 1 gallon shrubs are probably around $8 each. The sod is about .33 a sqft. The rock is a tough one because I do not know what type you are using. Rock varies, but its a good estimate of about .50 sqft. The curbing is cost by linear feet. We rarely use this here, but stone edging is about $6 a foot. The irrigation system should run you about .35 sqft. The lights are low voltage and cost about $125-$150. Look at all this and see what your getting. I do have all the calculatons. Good Luck.

This is a cycle that the earth has been through before. Human actions add to it but by a small percentage (not to say that we shouldn't clean up our act anyway).
Did you also know that scientisits have just discovered that global warming is also happening on Mars?

Need help deciding what is a good 1st DSLR for me?

Hi im 15 and ive been doing photography for years now and im finding that my standard digital camera isnt good enough for what I like taking. I take alot of landscape and night/low light shots. I try to take sunsets but my camera isnt too good for it. Anyway I favour Olympus and Sony cameras and ive narrowed it down to 2 cameras but im not sure if they are right for me. I liked the Olympus E-520 and Sony Alpha A200. I have a price limit of around less than AU$1000. Also what type of lenses should I be looking at getting?

It's tough.

To be honest, it's hard comparing them due to their differences. The Olympus has size, the Alpha is relatively new to the market, etc.

Research and decide for these factors:
- Max. and min. ISO... at least a bottom of ISO 200 and max of ISO 1600
- Read reviews and feedback on noise levels in high ISO
- Read reviews and feedback on image quality
- Which is cheaper
- Which is smaller... do you need a smaller camera
- Are you going to buy more lenses? Which brand has more range...

Those kind of questions help decide for you.

  • How to Install Low Voltage Landscape Lights - Info Barrel

To keep it simple, you should add together the wattage number of each outdoor lighting fixture you will use, and then factor in a "buffer" amount for voltage drop and extra capacity in case future fixtures are added. 25% is a good amount to factor in growth and line drop. Once you have your total wattage number, then buy a transformer that can handle your number efficiently.

August 24th, 2009 Transit City: More than light rail Posted by Sean Marshall

In 2005, prior to the TTC unveiling the Transit City Light Rail Plan, there was a document and presentation called “ Building a Transit City” , related to the 2003 ridership growth strategy .

On Friday, the TTC unveiled its “Transit City Bus Plan”, an interesting and detailed document that would see 21 bus routes outside the Transit City LRT Plan be provided with all-day 10-minute service and new or improved express buses on 15 bus routes, including the second-stage Transit City LRT routes: Don Mills, Jane, and Morningside (Scarborough-Malvern). However, the new or improved express bus routes are not planned to be fully rolled out until 2014 (though some routes will see improvements starting in 2011) .

Even so, the route improvements and more express buses are important as the alternative would be to cut back on the bus fleet once busy bus routes like 32 Eglinton West, 34 Eglinton East, 36 Finch West are replaced by LRT and the York subway extension is completed.
