Garden/landscape Solar lights problem?

I bought some Malibu landscape solar lights. I installed them yesterday, and they were working in the evening. Today it rained and some of them stopped working. Or better they are flickering. Light goes on and off.
Could the rain have effected the lights or do they still need more time to charge?
Please help because I am ready to return them. So frustrated.

they may need more time to charge. check that all the batteries are firmly in place. you can try to charge them right under a light in the house for a day. mine took a really good sunny day before they really took off, but when i got up at 5 am and it was just starting to get light, they were STILL on! now that its fall, though, none of them are on for more that a couple hours after dark

Is conduit pipes needed for low voltage landscape lighting in NYC?

Hello,

Does anyone know if NYC code requires conduit pipes for low voltage wiring around an outdoor garden area?

If so, does the conduit need to be running along the floor or can it be mounted along a concrete wall?

Thanks.

call the local building code inspection office you dont have to tell them who you are just ask the question or call the local electrical supply house where the pros shop they know they sell the parts then go to the local home depot and tell them your plan and ask for the electric sales guy he can help you choose the right stuff

Garden landscaping communities/forums and help?

Right now, my backyard is just a piece of land with brown dirt.

However, I have never done gardening and I don't know where to start.

Here's what I need to get done:
1.) I want to pave large tiles/flagstones for a patio
2.) In the back, I want to have a garden stone wall where I can plant trees (for privacy), flowers, and attach garden lights. (Example: http://landscapetour.com/db5/00432/lands capetour.com/_uimages/DSCFback1.JPG)
3.) Garden stairs leading up to the fence door, like this: http://image06.webshots.com/6/1/54/62/16 6815462ZaMGEA_ph.jpg

This is what I want to achieve, except more squared, not round.

Is there a garden landscaping forum online where I can get help from professionals and experts? I don't know where to start.

I'm also scared that weeds will grow later if I carelessly remodel without prior experience.

Thanks.

I hope these help, as for weeds they come regardless. As for ideas I think your almost there, its just confidence. join these sites and ask I am sure they will help you.

What is the best way to plant a garden on steep, hilly, and rocky soil.?

Looking for soil qualities, water, sun light, maybe scaping the landscape..

There are different options for you. I am a landscaper and have done banks and slopes. The preparation is a little different then a flat suface. You can't get a tiller over the ground, so try and turn the soil over and rake as smooth as you can. Use any rocks to your advantage by incorporating them into your landscape. A good product to use on a steep incline is jute. It is a commercial heavy duty lanscape fabric. It rolls out and will help with erosion and also keep shrubs in place. You can also terrace the land, but you will have to try and get each layer as level as you can.

There are many evergreen shrubs that will work on your hill.
I will link you to my simple solutions section. There is a page on slope planting with evergreens. Take a look at the other pages in this section. I will also link you to my site map, as this page has everything that is on the website. You may be able to get some more information to help you with this project. There is a gallery of plant section which also may give you some ideas of what to plant for you climate zone. If you need any further suggestions, please feel free to contact me at the website. Have a great day and good luck with your project!

How to Install Low Voltage Landscape Lights - Info Barrel

To keep it simple, you should add together the wattage number of each outdoor lighting fixture you will use, and then factor in a "buffer" amount for voltage drop and extra capacity in case future fixtures are added. 25% is a good amount to factor in growth and line drop. Once you have your total wattage number, then buy a transformer that can handle your number efficiently.

I’m not so crazy about wood, it’s not the wood you see it is my ability with a saw and measuring tape.

Metal edging gives a modern sleek look and lasts almost forever.

Concrete edging is heavy and durable, the concrete can be molded to mimic real stone or you can take the natural concrete look if you prefer that.

Real stone is the most expensive and may need to be professionally cut to fit your bed.
