I'm not sure this will answer your question, but Google Sketch-Up does allow you to import your photos and create a 3D landscape representation. Outside of this, I don't know that many other software packages allow you to import photos.

Check out Google earth, and the free version of Sketchup they provide. You can get an ariel photo of your place, and then use sketchup to do your design, make sure you check out sketchups design warehouse online, free plants, trees all kinds of stuff

I illustrate documents showing the old railway routes and wish to show them set in their 3D landscape without spending a vast sum of money on CAD software.

You can use Bryce 3D which will cost around £150 (or it did when I bought it 8 years ago)

Or if you want a free option, there's a package called Terragen. You can download it for free from http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

Both are dedicated Landscape generating 3D modelling and rendering packages, and both are extremely good at what they do.

Whats a good 3D software for landscapes. Have Vue 5 Infinite but mega problems with loading and its not pirate, changed it twice and website offers no clues to why doesn't load so can change it something better but what ? Any surgestions please.

Forgot to say its for fantasy artwork and yes OS does support just the serial number has a problem. I know vue package has anti pirate with it but was bought at P C World [I know, I never bought it but change it there, was a present]

Terragen used to be freeware. There's also Blender. Eovia were giving away free copies of their older software too, Amapi and Carrara.
