You get what you pay for. I don't know of any free. I have Visio from work which has a really complete set of landscape drawing.

I just bought a house with a BIG yard that the previous owners just covered with little rocks! I'm looking for a software program that allows you to load in pix of the yard and "place" different trees, shrubs and flowers to see what it could look like. I live in the high desert, so this would need to have stuff like junipers, pines, manzanitas and flower bulbs. Any out there that are good?
Punch software is the best I have found. There website is listed below. It even allows you to "grow" the plants and trees so that you can get an idea of what they will look like in the years to come.
im starting a company and i will be designing people landscapes around their homes, just wanted to know if there is any other computer software that would help me better then the one i already have
I used Better Homes and Gardens Landscaping and Deck Designer and thought it was a great program. It actually had a lot more stuff than I really needed but I still use it to look up different types of plants every time I get the urge to plant something new.
It's pretty easy to use.
I have a landscape picture I want to change the picture it'self to a portrait.
Is this possibble with any software?
well if you want to do it quickly and without downloading a thing, run MS Paint. it is installed with Windows. then open the picture, click 'Image' on the top menu and choose 'Flip/Rotate'. and then you can choose several options for rotating the picture.
I have one I bought from the college a few years ago, but it was a hassle to set it up and I didn't like the plant choices.
I'll have to go home and get the name of the one favorite of mine - it's pretty good, and has a huge library of plants and outdoor "equipment" including playscapes, outbuildings, and rocks, my second favorite "plant" for landscaping with. lol I hope to get back online in a couple of days - if not, I'll email you with the program. =)

There are some fantastic landscaping desgin software programs that will help you to design the backyard of your dreams but there are also some landscaping software programs that are a complete waste of money. The trick is to find out which landscaping software programs are good before you purchase them.
Many of the landscaping software programs that are on the market for the regular consumer are not really very good. Some of them are just plain awful and to buy them is to throw your money down the drain. They will have terrible cartoonish drawings that are not clear and that will not do you any good at all. On the other hand there are some of the more expensive commercial grade landscaper software programs that will blow you away with their capabilities.
What you need to remember when you are using a landscaping software program is that it is not going to do anything for you, it is only a tool for you to use to make your ideas a reality. So if you are wanting to buy some landscaping software so that you can have your yard designed for you then do not even bother. If on the other hand you have some great ideas and you want to get them laid out so that you can see if they are really as good as they seem then a good landscaping software program might be for you after all.
