What are some good landscaping software?

I need to lay the house outline, the "planting zone", and east-west sun rise pattern for best planting. Also need advise on which plants are best for certain locations.

It would also be nice if it included maintenance instruction on weeding, trimming etc.

I'm not starting from scratch. My yard is already landscaped, but been neglected and overgrown. I like to remove some plants and bushes and replant with new plants.

I want to make a foresty area in my back yard, but I don't know what trees to plant and how to arrange them. I would like a software program that allows you to arrange plants to see how they would look. Does anything like that exist?

Use autocad or archicad, thats what my friend uses, she is a landscape designer

I just bought a house with a BIG yard that the previous owners just covered with little rocks! I'm looking for a software program that allows you to load in pix of the yard and "place" different trees, shrubs and flowers to see what it could look like. I live in the high desert, so this would need to have stuff like junipers, pines, manzanitas and flower bulbs. Any out there that are good?

Punch software is the best I have found. There website is listed below. It even allows you to "grow" the plants and trees so that you can get an idea of what they will look like in the years to come.
