I'm looking for a good home architect and landscape design software that's easy to use, has good graphics, and is fairly inexpensive.

If there are no recommendations, does anyone know a good place to find inexpensive PC software?

yeah, check out 3dhome architect. its relatively easy, and cost very little, compared to like 1000 for autocad.

I have an HP1730 flat screen monitor that pivots from landscape to portrait orientation - but I don't have the software that pivots the image (my PC is not HP). Any suggestions - preferably inexpensive or free downloads?

I can pivot one of two ways on one machine, and only one way on the other of my two machines.

In one case that is common to both, I am able to change the orientation of my monitor via software for my display adapter.

I like nVidia display adapters, and nVidia has software for their adapters that can rotate or "pivot" the display image. You can look into that software via this weblink....

The other is specific to my NEC monitor...long before this function could be handled independantly by a video controller (adapter), NEC built the function into their montors.

So for me my LCD2010 can pivot, and I select pivot via a menu button on the monitor. Tell it to pivot the image and Viola...Im all set. However, depending on the resolution I have set, I may have to go to the desktop and adjust the resolution so that it displays best on the Portrait view Im now using.

Again...thats the old way...and now pivoting is provided by the driver for my video adapter. From all that I understand, the function is largely managed by the video adapter. So you might check the site for your video adapter.

Okay, I am going to be thirteen this year, and I am VERY into architecture, and I want a good, cheap software under 100 dollars (please, if possible), that makes houses that look like the software they use on HGTV. Now, I am very smart, and I would really like a good software for my age, that I can build a very detailed home. I already have the Sims 2 for PC, and that is great, but I would like something where I can make exact measurements and exact details, and landscaping, and just everything. Thanks!

I use 3D Home Architect, cost me about $100. Good enough for the City to accept building plans from it :)

It's not super amazing, but it's nothing to laugh at. I have a similar computer and it does everything I want it to. If you're a gamer, just upgrade the video card to like a 7600GT and add another gig of RAM and it should handle most modern games with ease, (That's what I did to my computer)
