I'd love it if somebody told me how because i've looked all over the web and in his books and I can't find anything.....
David..it is my understanding that he had been painting the usual landscapes and whatnot common for the time fellow artists came over and wanted to get a drink so he leaned the paintings over on their sides for whatever reason and went and had a few with his bros. When he got back that night he saw for a brief few seconds what those paintings looked like on their side and he realized that he did not need to continue to paint things that were recognizable shapes anymore and still get the feel in the painting that he wanted... in fact get that feel much better so he embarked on a path of painting that to him looked like what music sounded like. all in all I am very glad that he did..... there are 1000's of landscape painters but only one Kandinsky,
Lend me your mind, for I am painting on an artist pallete as part of VT's first annual "Palletefest." The "landscape" I am painting is imagined and not fashioned after any particular place. Vermont in mind as a loose setting. I've painted layer after layer of acryllic paint on land, sky, mountains, amd sun. I tape off areas during each layer to create depth through overlapping. I spray clear coat and repeat. The land, sky and mountains have very straight, angular, crisp edges. The sun is curvy/wavy. What odd object should be painted in the foreground? What "style" should I paint it in (2d line, swirly, black/white)? I want to paint an object in the foreground that would never be found in a landscape. I only want ONE strange item. What do you think of a boat, large rolling head of George W. Bush, or a bleeding cross. . . maybe something more realistic like a beautiful tree or something not found in VT like a pyramid. . .
Suggestions for me? Thanks so much!

I don't know why, but I immediately invisioned a realistic human heart, glistening with moisture. Not gory. Very healthy. But not belonging there, it could symbolize many things.
Are you sure that's the correct spelling. I find no indication of any artist named Ardiss.
I have seen wonderful landscapes painted by artists in the 1700's. Why isn't anyone painting like this anymore? Is it because no one knows how ? It's out of style? I have searched online and can not find any current artist that create equal paintings.
WOW great input everyone :) Im glad to hear from you all.
i would imagine its easier' not' to make the bed. modern art is just by way of excusing your self for having no talent. .......that's what i think any way......I'l very likely get death threats now. (or told that I'm a trogladite or something)

I wish our skies looked like this today. Instead we have angry skies filled with smoke as the Angeles National Forest burns above my home town of La Canada. They say that it will take a week to get the blaze fully contained. I’m hoping that the part of the fireline approaching homes will be extinguished long before that. It just makes us too nervous to see flames so close by.
From the 2 freeway as you drive into La Canada, you see nothing but a canopy of trees - they are so densely grown together. Eucalyptus, pine, palms, deodars - fire could easily jump from treetop to treetop. I hope it doesn’t get loose down here in the foothills. Fortunately the wind is cooperating … so far.
Art Fag City » IMG MGMT: TOMORROW#39;S FORECAST: STRIKINGLY CLEAR.
Among these was the way nature was enlisted as a foil for ideology thereby making its representational conventions appear natural. The landscape also situated the viewer in different spatial configurations, shaping relationships to new possibilities of sight, knowledge, and power.

My focus on the sky began when I came across a full-page image in the newspaper (above.) A large cloud cycle, reminiscent of one of Constable’s studies , rose toward the picture plane behind large block letters reading: “TOMORROW’S FORECAST? STRIKINGLY CLEAR.” It was an advertisement for a defense corporation named power –such as the storm. This natural force was imbued with the power of God. Surviving the potential for annihilation, terror was transformed into sensations of awe, pleasure and reverence. The Oxford Dictionary provides this definition: “Of things in Nature and Art affecting the mind with a sense of overwhelming grandeur or irresistible power; calculated to inspire awe, deep reverence, or lofty emotion by reason of its beauty, vastness, or grandeur.”
