What setting to use to shoot night Photography without using flash for outdoor landscaping lighting company?
White Oak 1

I'm using a Canon SLR 10D. I have a buddy who has a lighting landscaping company and he wanted to shoot some stuff for his website. I have an image stablizer on it and I set it to ISO 800 around 1 sec f4 and shooting with no flash. If I set it higher than that it becomes more blurry because some parts are dark and some are lit from the lights. Some of these places that I'm shooting isn't going to be great for a tripod. Would a IS still work in this case or try to go with the tripod?

You can pick early dusk where it will look and photograph dark, lights will be on and you will have enough ambient light to have a descent shutter speed. Also use a mono pod if you can not set up a full tripod.

When buying outdoor solar landscape lights what should I look for?
_MG_2002

key considerations:
* luminaire output - BTW, most newer solar lights use LEDs. on average a light comes with 1-3 LEDs.
* solar panel storage capacity - consider how much charge it can hold & can it effectively drive the output of all LEDs in the lights.
* separate solar panels that can be wired to multiple lights. - if a panel can be wired to 2 lights, you may get more 'light time' if you only hook up 1 light to the panel. (this is the trick I use)
* the amount of direct light it needs to charge.

a good detailed explanation is found on the web at: http://chinese-school.netfirms.com/revie ws/solar-landscape-lighting.html

My company is looking for someone to design/engineer an outdoor lighting fixture. can anyone help?
_MG_1895

I am with a small landscape lighting company and need help with the design of a fixture.
specifically low voltage lighting. LED lighting knowledge a plus

you haven't defined the application/usage of the lighting...

Unidirectional ? Omnidirectional ? Swivel ? fixed ? Array ? standalone ? halogen ? LED ? polarized ? rechargeable solar ? hardwire ? plastic ? metal alloy ? decorative ?watt/electricity limits ? other design limitations or parameters ?

Anyhow, an engineering or home fixtures company could assist you.

Why did all of my landscape lights suddenly go out?
_MG_1988

All 8 of my outdoor landscape lights went out at the same time. I thought it was the transformer, so I replaced it today, but the lights did not come back on. What else could cause them all to stop working at the same time?
They are not solar, they are electrically wired. The transformer is a black box to which the individual lights are wired and which plugs into the electrical outlet. It is also called a power pack.

They have little solar cell batteries inside the top of the lantern.
Rechargeable Batteries For Solar Lights
The majority of solar lights operate using one or more AA size Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries. We recommend these are replaced every 1-2 years or as found necessary. A defective battery is often the cause of a solar light malfunctioning or inefficient performance.

Open the link below/and see if you have the instructions around anywhere or go find a set at the store where you bought them and see which battery.

P.S. EDITED:you might want to check the lines to make sure that one of the lines didn't get cut or break. Or even check the outlet for the transformer or your breaker switch.

Where can I order replacement parts for outdoor landscape lights?
_MG_1960

I have some lights that hang above the ground on the roofline of my house here a link to give a ideal of what I'm talking about http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-LX19610 T25-Floodlight-One-Light-Floodlights/dp/ B0002YTQCC/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1 249856484&sr=8-10
They are the round circular lights the only thing diffrent is that I'm looking for some lights similar to the one in the picture that I can install on the roof line of my house... Like the old lunalite they use to make if they still make..

Its difficult to get parts for the type of lights that you purchased but you can probably order them direct from intermatic. Here is the link to their catalog.

Outdoor Landscape Lighting

It is a undisputed fact that kitchens and baths help sell a home, but the 3rd classy component in the home equity trifecta is definitely “curb appeal”.

After perfecting the outside of your house, it is time to consider the landscaping. Well-executed landscaping softens the hard edges of trails, drives, and the foundation of the house while complementing the style your house conveys. Hours can be spent pouring over gardening mags, skimming nurseries and consulting local garden mavens on correct plant selections ; at some point all your research and difficult work will eventually come to the end. However ; the bulk of owners stop here. If you stop with just the landscaping, something is missing – the light!

In the long days of summer, lack of out of doors lighting is fine while the sun lingers till late in the evening, but what about what’s left of the year when you would like to sit on your superbly landscaped terrace or deck? Or sit on your front porch and mingle with your neighbors in the evening light? The warm embrace of light creates a welcoming atmosphere, both outside and inside of your house, as well as providing security. Landscape lighting extends the time you are able to enjoy your “outdoor home”. What good is all the tough work you have put into the outside of your house if you cannot see it? There are several options in outdoor lighting that can take the average home from “Oh, that is nice.” to “Wow.
