Best, easiest outdoor lighting for a party?
can't sleep at night

I'm having an outdoor party and my yard has no outdoor lighting. I need some easily installed, inexpensive ways to light up my yard for the night time segment of the bash!

Tiki torches are AWESOME
Citronella candles.....they do DOUBLE duty.....give off light plus repel mosquitos and other flying insects
Wrap your trees, any poles, etc in your yard with clear, white Christmas lights.....these don't give off a ton of light, but they will give off some....plus they are beautiful

Hope this helps! Have a GREAT party!

How do you hand Outdoor party lights on a Brick Wall?
Camp Bisco 2008 crowd

I don't want to damage or possibly drill into the brick of my house for a string of party lights. Does anyone know of a hook I can hang or even stakes I can use in the ground to hang these?

If you want to go with the stake method, what about using the 3 to 4 foot high metal stakes with a curved hook on the top designed for hanging flower baskets?

You can get these at Wal-Mart or other discount stores for under two dollars each. As an added bonus, you could possibly hang plants or perhaps lantern style lights on these as well as the string lights.

Another alternative is to glue hooks directly to the wall with a strong construction adhesive such as Liquid Nails that is designed to stick to masonry surfaces.

Good call on not drilling into the brick. In the long run, that would lead to water penetration and possibly cause severe damage.

Hope that helps!

My sweet sixteen is on the 25th, and we will be having it outside in the backyard. So i was going to turn the backyard light on and then our guest room, which is seperate from the house, lights on. Then to add a bit more lights i was going to put white lights around our wisteria and the tree that will be sitting behind me. So any other suggestions? My theme is Springtime in Paris by the way, if that helps out a bit. Thanks for your time. :)

tiki torches are good, but if you dont have them, you may have some christmas lights left over from christmas time...some strands hanging above the party can help ligh it, and may help with the cool paris effect as well...otherwise i would suggest doing in durring the day...lol

Best lighting for an outdoor party (at night)?
Hula Hoop girls @ Camp Bisco 2008

I'm having an outdoor party in my back yard and I'm planning to have it go late into the night. I'm kind of worried about whats going to happen around 8 or so when it starts to get pitch black. What makes the most light? I was thinking about using those little paper lanterns but are they really enough to see by? What are your suggestions.

hang a bunch of white Christmas lights up EVERYWHERE! borrow from friends and family to have a lot- string up in tree branches, along the fence, in bushes, everywhere really! then hang some of those paper lanterns in various spots also for some added detail. those will be plenty of lighting and will look really pretty at night. you can also make some paper bag lanterns yourself- get some white paper bags and punch holes in them to make some sort of design, then put some sand in the bottom for weight and a candle- scatter them all over the yard along walkways and the perimeter of the yard. bring out all your extra candles also to make candle groupings on tables and corners of the yard- put them in tall glass jars/vases/glasses to protect from the wind

I'm having an outdoor party at night, and I want lighting?Solar lights?
Fire party

I live out in the country,so lighting is limited. I really don't want my guests to be out in the dark (with just a motion light!) so I was wondering what I could do for lighting. I was wondering if solar lights could be the answer? Along with candles..but I'm not sure about those since there will be children there..and even if there weren't with 50+ people things could get crazy. So what can I do?

There are sooo many different solar lights available. You can get strings of lanterns for interest and some that you can stake into the ground to delineate paths to/from the home for food/bathroom trips. I would also have something for mosquito control like citronella lanterns.

Have a GREAT party.

  • Outdoor Lighting: Outdoor Party Lights

Add some sparkle to your next garden party by adding some outdoor party lights. With the right arrangement and a bit of planning on your behalf your next party can really dazzle. In my opinion, this is one area of entertaining that is constantly overlooked and rarely given enough priority in party planning. When hosting a party people generally tend to think that their existing outdoor lighting will suffice. Or perhaps they think adding a few citronella torches will add an exotic appeal. Not only will the party be too dark to recognize your friends, your guests will go home with the feeling of unmemorable darkness and the party will soon be forgotten. Designers all over are adding outdoor party lights to their list of must-haves when planning a party, whether it be an intimate dinner party or a large neighborhood block party. Outdoor lighting can set the mood of the party or delineate different areas of the party. For example, some areas that serve food should be more illuminated...

Accessorizing Your Party With Party Lights

Accessorizing Your Party With Party Lights

Undoubtedly party lights are no less important than any other element of decoration at any awesome party. What is more, party lights can add the finishing touch to any party atmosphere. Since they vary in color, design, size and weight, party lights can be thematic or refined depending on the type of party you’re arranging .

Indeed, party lights can be used both indoors and outdoors. Most party lights will be usable in both situations as long as the weather holds out. For indoor lights you can choose decorative lighting that fit with the rest of your interior. For example, you can string up Tabasco sauce lights or Brazilian themed party. Or, you could put up some national flag lights for Independence Day . The same types of lights can also be used outside. Do not forget that these themed lights are generally on a short extension chord. It’s a good idea to have an extra, longer chord if you want to put these lights outside. No doubt they will make your party the most talked about in the neighborhood.
