I am trying to figure out what these lights are called. I know they were used alot in the past to light up car lots and as christmas lights in the 50's. I still see them today in outdoor restaurant patios and at firework stands. They are full size light bulbs on a string. I would like to purchase some for my outdoor patio but I cant find where they are sold.

Can you give more specifics, like type of cuisine, where on Atlantic it is, nearby hotels? There's quite a few with outdoor patios and lighted palm trees.

I have a bond and recently they found some activity in one of the outdoor baiting stations. They said it was nothing to worry about. Lately I have noticed termites around the light on my back patio. There are lots of them on my back table and on the ground but no trails or holes that I notice. Please help. I just bought the house a few months ago. It had previous termite issues but they were repaired, treated, etc. and the bond is supposed to be a good one. I live in Mobile, Alabama.
I would contact the company that did the previous work and have them check out the termites. There should not be termites visible near your house. The company should have given some sort of warranty. Start with them.

There are many things to consider when choosing patio lights. Look, materials, workmanship and performance. You'll certainly want fixtures that are well made from durable materials. For outdoor lighting, brass and copper are best as they do not rust. You don't want your investment to fall apart in a couple of season, do you?
Also important is performance. Patio lights need to be neighbor friendly. By this, I mean that your lights should light up 'your' patio and not flood your neighbors yard with light. This is called light trespass, and is a definite no-no.

I have a great patio/deck and no light gets to it at night. There is no access to an outlet. My apartment is rental so I can't screw anything into the building. Plus- the outside of the building is brick. I was looking for battery operate lighting- but not string lights. I was also looking for something a little more "stylish" than the tap lights.

I love that last one, very elegant but all of those options are more mood lighting than actual useful lighting. Hope it helps anyway.
