I have 27" room (from the point on the ceiling where I will hang the light to the top of the doorway.) Pendant light sizes range from 10" up to over 20". I dont want it to look too small or too big for the doorway. Most of the ones I like are around 15". Will that look too big?

I think it's a preference thing. Try this, make a card board model approx the size you like and hang it from the ceiling with string. That way you can get an idea of the dimensions and whether it will look right. Cheaper than buying a fixture and then not liking it.

all I see are countless lantern/box style lights. I want the smallish halogen lights that are designed for indoors.....but there are only a couple.

That sounds very pretty, but I'm afraid they would blow in the wind. I am trying to picture what you are talking about. I picture pendant style as a long wire with the light at the bottom, like you would have over a kitchen island. I suppose it would work if it was a metal tube soldered to the base of the hanging light. That would keep it sturdy. You might think of having a handyman or metal worker design one from parts that you might purchase for cheaper.

Attention all of you gardeners and decorators out there,
I have an outdoor pendant light I would like to hang on my patio. The problem is that the cord is so unsightly. Any ideas on what I can do to cover it? I tried to put chain over it but the plug is too big to fit through the chain and I'm not an electrician so I don't want to attempt any wiring. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You may want to try weaving the cord through a chain that way it will help disguise the ugliness of the cord. It's not the most ideal solution, but it will help eliminate some of the ugliness without having to rewire anything. You can get thicker chains to help fit your pendant's cord.
